Standard Touring All-Season

Overall Rating (9.1)

As a standard touring all season tire for sedans, minivans, crossovers, and SUVs like the Ford Taurus and Honda CR-V, the General Altimax RT43 tire never disappoints.Even tread wear and an extended tread life will allow you to take your Altimax RT43 tires the distance without ever sacrificing a bit of performance. Year round traction on wet, dry, and snow covered roads combine with a quiet and comfortable ride to make winners out of every driver that chooses to roll with General Altimax RT43 tires.

Features and Benefits
  • This tire features a twin cushion silica tread compound that utilizes a high density all season top compound for year round traction and long wear.
  • A low density foundation compound absorbs road vibrations to promote a comfortable ride.
  • The tread compound is molded into a symmetric tread design that features continuous center rib and independent tread blocks that use sound wave suppression technology to reduce road noise.
  • Circumferential grooves and General's Anti-Slip Design Technology helps to increase the number of biting edges on the tire, which enhances traction on slippery roads.

Comments Great tire so far. Replaced Yokohama avid s, which were a very good tire for almost 50k. Generals are comparable to prev tires in handling both wet and dry but the general tires are the quietest and most comfortable ride yet on car. We have only had about 2" of snow since install and they were fine but tires haven't seen deep snow yet. Based on prepurchase research they should be very good in snow. I am very satisfied with these tires so far. Also Purchasing online using Town Fairs "beat the internet" option is the best. Super easy and always great service.

Comments Excellent tire since I have purchased. First time I have purchased General Tires. I have only driven in snowy conditions once so I can't comment on "Deep Snow" of "Ice Traction" at this time.

Comments As I purchased these tires after the snow was pretty-much gone, I can't give them a snow / ice rating. For my regular driving, however, I find them superb. My normal driving consists of five trips to, and five trips from Wonderland MBTA in Revere, per week. Weekends may see two or three highway (Rte 128, Rte 1) trips of 20 to 40 miles round-trip, with occasional jaunts to local package (liquor) stores. The tires are quiet even at highway speeds. In turns or taking sharp exits from a highway, there is never any question or concern about the tires holding the road. Granted, I don't drive as though I'm on a NASCAR track but, for the occasional 30-mph exit taken at 35, 40, or even 45 the tires have a solid feel and I never have any sense that I'm not in control of the vehicle.

Comments Only had them short time in spring - no snow yet but tracked straight and true in deep pooling on road - old tires would have begun to hydroplane . Only goofy thing is new tires hold pebbles for long time. But they are wonderful so far . I have also recommended town fair to others. Still have not seen my rebate although I was approved
