ZIEX ZE960 A/S

Performance All-Season

Overall Rating (8.7)

True All-Season High Performance
The ZIEX ZE950 All-Season incorporates the latest in technology and design from Falken to create an excellent choice for drivers of today’s sedans, sports cars and crossover vehicles where mileage, all-season and high-performance handling are a priority.

Features & Benefits:
DYNAMIC RANGE TECHNOLOGY
- Incorporates a Falken-exclusive silica tread compound that allows the rubber to remain pliable at low temperatures, increasing grip in wet, snow and icy conditions. During dry conditions, as the rubber heats up, chemical bonds remain strong.

WIDE ANGLED TREAD SLOT
- Provides additional snow grip by allowing snow to be packed into the center of the tire.

WIDE CIRCUMFERENTIAL GROOVES
- Effectively evacuate water and significantly enhance hydroplaning resistance for outstanding wet handling.

3D CANYON SIPE TECHNOLOGY
- Increases edges for ice braking and interlocks under load for better handling and improved wear.

SCULPTURED GROOVE WALL
- Provides better snow grip and eliminates rain groove wander.

Comments Don't get my ratings wrong. Most like ice/snow are only because I haven't had a chance to drive in those conditions. These are a wonderful choice if you understand the history of Falken Tires. They handle very competently, Good impact absorption and low slip angles give you a tire that feels good while going where you point it. This is all about tread noise; something you don't want to deal with in a touring selection. Around town / city and below 55 they were more than acceptable, but above 55 they set up a howl which drowned out the radio and reduced us to shouting to each other. I suspect it relates to the modified center grove where Falken molded a saw-tooth pattern for improved snow performance. Perhaps the air compressing at speed is setting up the vibration. Thankfully; the professionals' at Townfair Tire stepped up and exchanged them for another premium Japanese brand. These may well work out for you, but ask your salesman first for his observations too.
